Changes In comparison with DBL , edition , the following changes have been made:? PV 28 revised. PV 31 revised. The German version shall prevail above all others. Table 1 Product versions, overview Product versions. For darker finishes the grain side shall be predyed. Specialty tanned full grained bovine leather, tannage using predominantly organic natural, synthetic and a proportion of mineral tanning agents. Through-dyed, full-grained bovine leather with organic-mineral combination tannage. Through-dyed, full-grained embossed bovine leather with organic-mineral combination tannage.
Finished on the grain side with topcoat dye finish. Through-dyed bovine flesh split with organic-mineral combination tannage. Finished on the upper side with topcoat dye finish, possibly by transfer coating. Through-dyed, full-grained embossed bovine leather with special low-shrinkage tannage, best possible softness and topcoat dye finish on grain side Through-dyed, full-grained embossed bovine leather with special low-shrinkage tannage and topcoat dye finish on grain side.
Through-dyed, full-grained embossed bovine leather with special low-shrinkage tannage and topcoat dye finish on grain side. Through-dyed buffed bovine grain leather with organic-mineral combination tannage. Application examples as upholstery cover in passenger cars. For technical data, if required, refer to DBL , edition Finished on the buffed and emgrain side with topcoat dye finish. Slight topcoat dye finish on grain side covered.
Slight topcoat dye finish on grain side slightly covered. Brightening finish permitted only following agreement with the department responsible. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document including any amendments applies. In addition, the relevant requirements of the Daimler Group apply. All materials, procedures, processes, components, and systems shall conform to the current regulatory governmental requirements regarding regulated substances and recyclability.
The leather shall be free of production defects of any type which would impair the processing and utilization properties. Tolerable surface properties are described in the leather limit sample catalog of Daimler AG.
The supplier is solely responsible for ordering the catalog from the responsible quality assurance department, Daimler AG, D Sindelfingen. Further-reaching surface defects and damage on the grain side or finished upper side shall be marked well and conspicuously. All defects shall be reimbursed adequately. The reverse side should be smooth and not display any long fibers or loose fiber structure which may be defined more precisely between system supplier and leather supplier by means of limit samples and shall be capable of creating a good adhesive bond.
The finish shall be level, dry and supple and adhere well to the leather. During pulling or stretching over edges and corners, no brittleness or other leather and, in particular, finish changes e.
The reverse sides shall be marked to ensure traceability hides, punched parts, covers. For new model projects from , only chrome-tanned leather shall be used for seat scopes due to production-specific requirements.
The availability of a certificate of testing in accordance with the following method is specified as an overriding requirement for adherence to the emission values for interior trim materials: VDA ; threshold values DBL The user is responsible for checking whether the version in his possession is the latest version.
In particular in the case of substances listed in DBL , the supplier is required to continuously minimize the conCopyright Daimler AG Uncontrolled copy when printed : Silvia Tothova, DBL , page 7 centration and emission at least in accordance with the state of the art, even when the values have fallen below the required DBL threshold values.
Leather may emit formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is marked as "sensitizing" in the MAK value list and classified in Part III substances with founded suspicion of carcinogenic potential. Formaldehyde emissions shall therefore be eliminated as far as possible as a matter of urgency with the target of zero emission. Measuring method: DIN EN ISO Requalification of emission analysis, formaldehyde content and pentachlorophenol content In addition to the approval test, the consistency of supplies shall be ensured by means of adequate test intervals of the running series.
Tests shall be documented, with results available on request. Irrespective of the number of required production tests, following approval of a quality the test result shall be submitted once each year without further request to the materials engineering department responsible Daimler AG, D Sindelfingen. Where the production method of the different colors is identical, submission of the repeat test of one color shall be sufficient.
If no unambiguous assessment is possible in this way, view the specimen under x magnification with a reflected light microscope. Use the microscope also for providing results documentation with images. Assessment criteria Assessment in accordance with grades for reference images, refer to Annex 1. Test specimen surface minimum? Punch the test pieces from the specimens mm x mm using a punching tool and measure the evaluation lengths on all four cut edges. Measure the specimens no later than 10 minutes after the last heat storage. Assess the change in color in accordance with DIN EN A02 using the gray scale gray scale for assessment of change in color. This marking should be approx. This area shall be the core which can be used in each case. Insertion of the specimen: Place the leather to be tested into the test apparatus Halpi, see Annexes D and F so that the Tesa adhesive tape lies transversely to the Halpi and the grain side is visible.
By inserting the leather into the test apparatus, a different grain pattern appears. Compare this grain change visually using a scale see Annex E and determine the rating of the tightness of the grain.
Testing in accordance with DIN EN ; the specimen holder shall be equipped with the soiled cloth, and the abrading table with the leather specimen, load 12kPa, number of cycles Both values shall be documented in the ISIR. Half of each specimen shall be cleaned. Soiling media: test cloth EMPA see 7. Liquid soiling agents specification to follow in DBL shall be applied in ? Then rub in manually gloves. With regard to soiling with hand sweat, refer to information under Section Rub fastness according to Veslic for the relevant PV.
For aniline, semianiline and natural leathers, clean after 24h at RT. Slight glossing of surface following cleaning is permitted.
Changes in color and stiffness or damage to the surface shall be assessed as not ok. For procurement sources and information on test media, refer to Annex 7 to be expanded in DBL Color measurement of reference with white reference tile as substrate.
Assessment with blue scale references. For each cycle, a new reference 6 shall be used. For leather with cloudy print, a meaningful value can only be determined if the measuring area is identical to the largest possible extent. Clamp the test specimen in the intended test apparatus.
PV Technical data Product version requirements 00 10 20 For technical data, if required, refer to DBL , edition The folding point shall also not demonstrate any crazing, if possible, or only slightly visible crazing.
Assessment see Section 7. Refer to Sections 7. Maximum deviation Rating 4 Characteristic value relevant to processing. This value shall be agreed between supplier and buyer and documented in the ISIR. It is then obligatory for the documented component. No individual value under 18N.
